300 Jahre Strohverarbeitung

Über uns

1992 haben sich tatkräftige Ehrenamtliche des Heimat- und Bürgervereins Twistringen e.V. entschlossen, die Geschichte des Strohs in Twistringen den folgenden Generationen zu erhalten.
Ein Museum wurde aufgebaut. Gesammelte Geräte sind in diesem Museum ausgestellt, z.T. in nachgestellter histori­scher Umge­bung. Bei Führungen wird die Herstellung einiger Produkte auf alten Maschinen vorgeführt.
300 Jahre Strohverarbeitung haben Twistringen für eine lange Zeit geprägt. Wesentliche Elemente dieser Prägung sind die erzeugten Produkte, die eingesetzten Geräte und die benötigten Fertigkeiten.
Das Aufkommen moderner Produkte als Ersatz für die traditionellen Stroherzeugnisse hatte in den 60er Jahren die Schließung der meisten Stroh verarbeitenden Betriebe zur Folge. Damit drohte der Verlust dieser "alten Welt" des Strohs.
